Digital cameras have made it too easy to capture any moment in a family’s day-to-day life. The trouble is organizing the really good shots into something memorable. Shutterfly aims to help that with their Simple Path.
Shutterfly has been our family’s go to site for creating photo books for a couple of years now. We’ve chronicled our family’s highlights in a hard-bound book and made special Christmas presents for grandparents and extended family with lots of positive comments from the recipients. With December peeking at us from behind Thanksgiving, we’ll start working on our next annual photo album.
Recently I was offered a complimentary book at Shutterfly to try out a new size of book that is being offered along with trying out their new Simple Path – a quick way to make a bound photo book. To use the Simple Path, you upload your pictures, choose a layout and color, and add some descriptive text. Within just a few minutes, your photo book is ready to be ordered, printed, and shipped.
The timing of my evaluation couldn’t have been better as the GeekMom and I took off on a seven-day cruise (sans children). We had tons of photos and I cut the GeekMom loose on Shutterfly to create a memory book of our trip.
She uploaded the pictures overnight (as it does take a while) and then created the keepsake in between kids’ (and this GeekDad’s) interruptions in about twenty minutes. She used the new 7 inch by 9 inch book format which allows twenty photo pages in the standard pricing.
After ordering, we had to wait (less than patiently)for the book to arrive. The kids have looked at it, GeekMom has taken it to work to show people, and we’ve enjoyed thumbing through a photo book instead of clicking pictures on the computer.
We’ve found Shutterfly books to make great holiday presents for loved ones. The grandparents can’t get enough of them. If you’re looking for something different for your family during the holidays, you might want to see what you can do with Shutterfly.
Wired: the Simple Path makes it drop-dead easy to put your pictures into a photo book. The 7×9 size is a great size for a grandparent’s brag-book.
Tired: the 7×9 book comes in soft-cover only. I’d love to see this in hard-cover format.
