Heads up NYC ! this weekend The Childrens International Film Festival is having a retrospective on the groundbreaking work of Japanese animator Osama Tezuka. Tezuka is considered by some the Walt Disney of Japan, and this weekend New Yorkers have a chance to catch three of his films this weekend. On November 28th and 29th at 11:00 AM you can catch a double feature of the original 1963 AstroBoy and Kimba the White Lion (1967) which was the original “Lion King”.
The second part of the retrospective, on November 28th at 1:00 PM includes three more his movies movies. “The Legend Of The Forest” is a “Fantasia” like tale from 1987. “Tales Of The Street Corner” (1962) where street posters come to life and tell their stories. Finally ther is “Jumping” a short from 1984 where we see life from the point of view of a bouncing ball.
The shows will be at the Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th street. Tickets are $11.00 each and can be purchased here .
